The Dance Academy Rules & Policies

At The Dance Academy we LOVE TO DANCE! We want to share our passion for dance and teaching with our students. Our goal is to create positive environment for students to have a great learning experience. We want our students to challenge themselves to be the best they can be and work to achieve goals. We encourage students to explore all different styles of dance and find what they love!

August 9th-13th Nutcracker Auditions

September 1st – Tuition Due

September 5th- Labor Day- No Dance

October 1st – Tuition is Due (we will not be closed for fall break)

November 1st- Tuition is Due

November 22nd-27th – Thanksgiving Break - No Dance

December 2nd- Costume payments are due & last day of classes for 2022.

December 16th & 17th Nutcracker

January 1st – Tuition is Due

January 2nd- All classes resume

February 1st- Tuition is Due

March 1st- Tuition is Due

March 13th- 18th Closed for Spring Break

April 1st- Tuition is Due

May 1st- Tuition is Due

May 26th – Last day of Classes for the 2022-2023 Dance Year

June 1st- Mandatory Dress rehearsal for all students performing in recital

June 2nd & 3rd – 2023 Dance Recital

Newsletters & Updates-  It’s your responsibility to stay informed- Please make sure we have a current email address!!! We send out information via email, update on our Facebook and Instagram pages as well as hand out hard copies of all newsletters in class.

Dress Code – Hair must be pulled back and out of the students face for every class. Jeans are never to be worn in any class. Any clothing with wording or graphics must be family friendly. Jewelry is not allowed in class. Wedding rings and small studded earrings are allowed. Ballet: all girls must have pink ballet slippers, a leotard, pink tights and hair put up in a bun. Boys, black ballet slippers, black dance pants, white t-shirt. Jazz & Tap: all student must have black jazz or tap shoes, leggings, dance shorts and athletic attire are to be worn, hair needs to pulled back. Lyrical & Contemporary: dances need to have ½ sole turners or footundies, leggings, dance shorts and athletic attire are to be worn, hair pulled back. Hip Hop:  dancers need sneakers that are designated only for class. Please don’t wear shoes in the parking lot and then come into the classroom. Shoes need to be free of dirt, mud and rocks. Athletic clothing, baggy sweats pants/joggers are acceptable, hair must be pulled back. Tumblingleotard, shorts, or other fitted clothing must be worn for tumbling. Dancers are barefoot, hair must be pulled back.

Etiquette - Please remember that The Dance Academy is a SCHOOL.  Families pay tuition to receive this private education in the Arts, and respect of this education is required at all times. Children who are not dancing are never to be left unattended in or around The Dance Academy building. Inappropriate behavior, such as vandalism (inside or outside of the building, to parked cars, etc.), running, playing tag, roughhousing, etc. will not be allowed.  The Dance Academy is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen property.  Courtesy and respect should be shown to the teachers, staff, fellow students and their parents, and to the property and equipment of the studio and others.  Absolutely no bad language, bullying, negative or hurtful comments, disruptive behavior, verbal or physical abuse, or any other inappropriate behavior will be tolerated and are grounds for IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL with NO REFUNDS.  The Dance Academy reserves the right to remove anyone for inappropriate behavior.

Classroom Etiquette – Please be on time to your classes! Respect should be shown to teachers and fellow students at all times.  Dancers only are allowed in the classrooms – no parents, siblings, or other guests. Parents are allowed to observe from the hallway.  Dancers are not to enter the classrooms when class is not in session. Dancers are expected to come to class prepared with a good attitude, in proper dance attire prior to the scheduled start time for class. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, SODA, GUM ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOMS! We encourage students to bring a water bottle to class. Students are allowed to bring their phones into class and leave them in their dance bags. Phones are not to be used during class time. Teachers reserve the right to dismiss a student from class if that student is violating any of the rules, policies, or dress code.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up – Young dancers are to be accompanied into and out of the studio by an adult.  If another adult is going to be picking up your child, please notify their teacher or the front desk.

Registration Fee & Tuition - The annual registration fee is $25 per student or $40 per family.  This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. 30 min classes are $35 per month, 45 min are $50 per month, 1 hour long classes are $65 per month. Unlimited classes for one student $190 per month, Second family student unlimited $140 per month, Unlimited family $390 per month. Tuition is due on the 1st of every month, except December.  Any payment received after the 5th of the month will incur a Late Fee of 10% of the balanced owed on the account.  Auto-pay is available on your account. Auto-pay will only be applied to tuition & dance company fees. Costume fees, dancewear, choreography and rehearsal fees will not be automatically withdrawn from your account.  Any check that is returned to The Dance Academy for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) will automatically be charged $20, plus any late fees that may apply. If a student drops, there will be NO REFUND for paid lessons or fees. Please note The Dance Academy DOES NOT PRORATE for missed classes.

Absences – In the event that your dancer is going to be absent, PLEASE notify The Dance Academy.  If a child misses two consecutive weeks without notifying The Dance Academy, it might be considered an automatic drop.  If a student drops, there will be NO REFUND for paid lessons or fees.  Please note that The Dance Academy DOES NOT PRORATE for missed classes. Make up class- Students are able to make up missed class within 4 weeks of the original absence.

Snow Days – Please call The Dance Academy, or check our Facebook page in the event of inclement weather.  We will send an email if classes need to be canceled that day. Rule of thumb: If you don’t want to be out driving in the weather then neither do our teachers!

Recital & Costumes– Our Annual Dance Review is scheduled for the beginning of June.  The exact date will be announced in the fall. Attendance in the 2 months prior to recital is VITAL!

Recital Costume prices range from $60 - $100.  Costume fees are due the beginning of December. Any costume not paid for by the deadline will not be ordered. A costume payment schedule may be arranged.  There is NO REFUND for ANY costume once it has been ordered.
