The Dance Academy Rules & Policies

At The Dance Academy we LOVE TO DANCE! Our goal is to create positive environment for students to have a great learning experience. We encourage students to explore all different style of dance and find what they love!

Registration Fee & Tuition - The annual registration fee is $25 per student or $40 per family.  This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. 30 min classes are $27 per month, 45 min are $37 per month, 1 hour long classes are $50 per month. Unlimited Student, Primary levels $125 per month, Multi-class discount for level 1&2 dancer for 4 classes only $135, Unlimited class any levels 1-6 unlimited $165 per month, Second family student unlimited $115 per month, Unlimited family $350 per month. Tuition is due on the 15th of every month, except December.  Any payment received after the 20th of the month will incur a “Late Fee” of $5.00 per class, per student. Self-addressed envelopes are available at the front desk if you wish to mail in your payment.  Mailed payments MUST be received by the 20th of the month. Any check that is returned to The Dance Academy for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) will automatically be charged $20, plus any late fees that may apply. If you pay the year in full by September 30th, you will receive a 5% discount on your tuition total. If a student drops, there will be NO REFUND for paid lessons or fees. Please note that The Dance Academy DOES NOT PRORATE for missed classes. The Dance Academy year runs for 10 months. Each class has 38 weeks of instruction. Your payment schedule is for 36 weeks of instruction, and is broken into 9 payments. This means each class gets 2 weeks for free!

Class ScheduleClasses are 25, 40, or 55 minutes long.  Five minutes is allotted at the end of each class to allow students and/or teachers to enter and exit the classrooms, as well as to change shoes for the next class. 

Absences In the event that your dancer is going to be absent, PLEASE notify The Dance Academy.  If a child misses two consecutive weeks without notifying The Dance Academy, it might be considered an automatic “drop.”  If a student drops, there will be NO REFUND for paid lessons or fees.  Please note that The Dance Academy DOES NOT PRORATE for missed classes.

Newsletters & Updates- Information will be posted on our website www.danceacademywhitemountains.com. We will send out reminder emails whenever we have new information for you.  We will also post updates on our Facebook page; The Dance Academy (of the White Mountains. It’s your responsibility to stay informed- Please make sure we have a current email address!!! If you do not have access to email, please see the front desk.

Etiquette - Please remember that The Dance Academy is a SCHOOL.  Families pay tuition to receive this private education in the Arts, and respect of this education is required at all times. No part of The Dance Academy is to be used as a play area or day care.  Children who are not dancing are NEVER to be left UNATTENDED in or around The Dance Academy building. Inappropriate behavior, such as vandalism (inside or outside of the building, to parked cars, etc.), running, playing tag, playing hide-and-go-seek, roughhousing, etc. will not be allowed.  The Dance Academy is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen property. If you have a concern or complaint, notify the staff at the Front Desk immediately.

 

  • Lobby Etiquette - Courtesy and respect should be shown to the teachers, staff, fellow students and their parents, and to the property and equipment of the studio and others.  Absolutely NO BAD LANGUAGE, Negative or Hurtful Comments, Disruptive Behavior, Verbal or Physical Abuse, or any other inappropriate behavior will be tolerated and are grounds for IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL with NO REFUNDS.  The Dance Academy reserves the right to remove anyone for inappropriate behavior.

 

  • Classroom EtiquetteStudents are to strive for good attendance, punctuality, behavior, and effort in class.  Respect should be shown to teachers and fellow students at all times.  Dancers only are allowed in the classrooms – no parents, siblings, guests, etc.  Dancers are not to enter the classrooms when class is not in session. Dancers are expected to come to class PREPARED in PROPER DANCE ATTIRE PRIOR to the scheduled start time for class.  Please refer to “The Dance Academy Dress Code” for specific information.

ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, SODA, GUM OR CELL PHONES ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOMS!

We encourage students to bring a water bottle to class.

Teachers reserve the right to dismiss a student from class if that student is violating any of the rules, policies, or dress code.

 

  • Parent ObservationWe do not allow parents or siblings to observe in the classrooms. Students learn best without an audience as they can be self conscious or easily distracted. All classrooms have windows to allow parents to watch the class. PLEASE DO NOT tap on the windows or wave at your students when they are in class!

 

Snow Days Please call The Dance Academy, or check the website, or check our Facebook page in the event of inclement weather.  A message/update will be left or posted by noon regarding the status of classes. Rule of thumb: If you don’t want to be out driving in the weather then neither do our teachers!

Student Drop Off and Pick UpYoung dancers are to be accompanied into and out of the studio by an adult.  If another adult is going to be picking up your child, please notify their teacher or the front desk.

Recital & CostumesOur Annual Dance Review is scheduled for Mid-June at the Show Low Auditorium.  The exact date will be announced in the fall.   May and June attendance is VITAL!  Any student who misses two classes in a row during these months WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the recital.  Please DO NOT plan any vacations during this time!

Costume prices range from $55 - $90.  We try to order from the fall sale catalogs to keep costs down.  A costume payment schedule may be arranged, but ALL COSTUMES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY THE END OF NOVEMBER.  There is NO REFUND for ANY costume once it has been ordered.

Recital PhotosGroup and individual pictures are taken at The Dance Academy a few weeks before recital.  There is no obligation to purchase photo packages.
